At the end of 44, it is evident that you can't run from judgment. God promises to hand over the Pharaoh in Egypt to enemies just the same as he did with Judah to the Babylonians.

Day 233: Jeremiah 41-45
In 42 and 43 it is evident that people who are not following God are going to be suspicious of those who are. They automatically assumed that Jeremiah was telling them to not go to Egypt with an ulterior motive. People who are conniving and deceitful themselves automatically assume others are too. Why did they even ask Jeremiah what God wanted them to do, I wonder.
