Day 216: Nahum

This takes place approximately 100 years after Jonah went to Nineveh and they repented.  Obviously, it didn't take.

I read the notes about God being jealous and avenging, because I know this is something that I have always struggled with.  "When humans are jealous and take vengeance, they are usually acting in a spirit of selfishness.  But God's jealousy and vengeance are unmixed with selfishness.  Their purpose is to remove sin and restore peace to the world."  BIG difference.

Interesting how chapter 1 goes back and forth.....slow to anger---wrath poured out like fire....The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble---with an overwhelming flood he will make an end of Nineveh.  I guess it is not really back and forth.  God is God all the time.  Always good.  It's the whole truth and grace thing illustrated once again.
