Day 226: Jeremiah 26-29

When I hear God use words like "Perhaps  they will listen and turn from their evil way," it always kind of surprises me.  I know God doesn't necessarily determine our path, but he knows in advance what we will choose.  I don't know...just a funny word to use.

It seems like God just gives Jeremiah one tough assignment after another.  Now he has to make a yoke and wear it when he prophesies!  I guess I never gave Jeremiah enough credit for obedience in tough circumstances before.

Do you think that 70 was chosen as the number of years in captivity because it was roughly a lifetime?  He wanted to start again with a new generation?

I love the letter in chapter 29.  It contains one of my favorite verses!!
