Day 178: 1 Kings 17-19

My notes point out that Elijah was the first in a long line of important prophets God sent to Israel and Judah.  He was attempting to rescue them from their moral and spiritual decline.  I LOVE that we are reading through the whole story of the Bible.  This is yet another era where God shows he is crazy about us!  I think so many people see prophets as these "doom and gloom" preachers, but they are missing the motive.

What a cool guy Obadiah was...here he was in charge of the palace and running an underground operation and protection for God's prophets!

How can you not love the story of Mt. Carmel!?!  My notes pointed out that using 12 stones to build the alter took courage.  This would have angered some of the people because it was a silent reminder of the split of the tribes.  Interesting.

I like the question "What are you doing here, Elijah?" that God asks twice.  I should be seeking to answer that same question about my life.

Great reading today!!!
