I am really glad this book fell chronologically where it did. First we hear about God creating the world and man and about how sin came to be. We see how God decided with the flood to "start over" because of the wickedness in the world. Then we go through this in-depth story of how people view God and the role he plays in men's lives....some wrong views....but ultimately Job's response: "I am unworthy."
The moral for me? God is in total control of everything, even when it doesn't feel like it sometimes! Amen!

What a wonderful end to Job. I am not talking about all of the blessings that he received, but just realizing who God is.
ReplyDelete"Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know." Job 42:3
How true it is that we try to make sense of everything and yet we end up speaking about things that we really can't even begin to understand. It is a comfort that God is so much greater than my ways and my understandings.
Now that we finished our first full book...How is everybody doing? It might be a good time to check in. If you are behind, don't worry, just take some time to sit down and read God's word. I look forward to joining you in Genesis again tomorrow!
Chapter 42:10 challenges me regularly. God restored Job and doubled his possessions only AFTER he forgave his friends and prayed for them. We look at Job’s friends as incorrectly judging Job and as being in the wrong. Did Job harbor something against them that he needed to forgive? I don’t know what Job’s heart was with his friends, but I see that before God can bless, I have to forgive and pray for those who may have offended me or hurt me through their words and actions. When I forgive, it gives God freedom to act in my life and bless me. God can bless in different ways but if I don’t forgive, how can I receive the forgiveness and blesssings He has for me?
