Day 29: Genesis 48-50
I find the whole idea of blessings, especially before dying, interesting. These were such powerful words of hope and future. I need to remember to speak this way to my kids. We never know if we will have that "end of life" opportunity!
How do the people of the Old Testament commune with God? Isn't God judgful and condeming on them? They are sinful and yet still able to have that close relationship with God.
ReplyDeleteWe are sinful, but have Jesus to forgive us. This forgiveness allows us to have such a close relationship with God.
I know that when Jesus died that He took on all sins, past, present, and future. What about the time before Jesus came to earth? Where did these people spend eternity or at least the time between death and Jesus?
Yea for everyone finishing Gensis (and Job)! I hope you are hanging in there with the reading and if you get behind, it's ok, you can catch up or just join in with today's reading.
ReplyDeleteFor me, reading the end of Genesis got confusing when it referred to Jacob and Israel interchangeably, it's just one person. Abraham was never called Abram again after God changed his name, so after God changed Jacob's name to Israel, why did God still call him Jacob?
