Day 11: Job 29-31

As Job goes through a whole inventory of sins that he has not committed, it made me wonder if we don't do the same thing sometimes. When something bad happens, we tend to look back and consider that maybe it is punishment being doled out for our sins. We have to remember that we live in a fallen world and that bad things just happen.

Do you think God still "accepts challenges" from Satan today and allows specific Godly people to be pushed to their limits? When I see people who seem to have one crisis after another hit their lives, I have to wonder.

  1. God accepting challenges from Satan is an interesting concept. My initial reaction is no! He may allow people to go through challenges for different reasons, but I can't picture Him and Satan sitting there playing that game.

Then as I think about it.... I guess that is what happened with Job. I also do believe that God allows Satan to mess in our lives. We are fallen children. He gives us the power to say no, but yet allows temptations to exist.

Is there always a reason for the challenges that we have? I don't think He would let us go through pain without an ultimate reason. We may never know or be able to understand the reasons, but do they always exist?
