Okay, those are some old people! I found it interesting that "EVERY inclination of the thoughts (of man) of his heart was ONLY evil, ALL the time." Wow! Also the seven clean animals jumped out at me. I read in notes that those were for sacrifice. Guess I just always have thought of those 2x2 images.
Have a great day!
Does anyone know what the "unclean" animals were? It is confusing to me that there were animals that God created, called "good" and now are considered "unclean." May be unclean is not the best translation, however, it is the only word they use in the two different versions I looked at. I wonder why God would even have included the unclean animals on the ark if they were truly unclean.
ReplyDeleteAnother thing I have found interesting is that the Lamech mentioned in this story who killed a man for injuring him is listed in the lineage of Jesus in Luke (3:35).
(Great job on the blog Beth, thanks for your work on it!)

Anyone have a simple explaination of nephilim? Google comes up with websites that basically range from another race to children born from fallen angels. What is everyone else's understanding?
ReplyDeleteI heard an interesting program on 91.5 radio and it was about Noah's Ark and why non-believers find it hard to understand. One thing she mentioned (the host) is the theory that the earth, at the time, had a canopy. Which is what God seperated on day 2 with the sky. Has anyone else heard this?
I found it overwhelming in Gen 6:6 that "The Lord was grieved". He was overwhelmed with what the people of the earth had done. Thanks to be to Him for sending his son because He knew we would never be able to redeem ourselves.
Lastly, I have read these chapters before but never realized that it rained for 40 days but the earth was flooded for 150 days.

Jenn,

I think it is important to be able to give an answer for the questions "Who was Cain afraid of?" and "Who was Cain's wife?" I have been asked those on several occasions.

Here are my notes on Cain... Adam and Eve had numerous children; they had been told to "fill the earth". Cain's guilt and fear over killing his brother were heavy; and he probably feared repercussions from his family. If he was capable of killing, so were they. The wife Cain chose may have been one of his sisters or a niece. The human race was still genetically pure, and tehre was no fear of side effects from marrying relatives.
