Day 3: Genesis 8-11

Greetings from one of the Shivelitites! HA...I was thinking it was funny that now we just say the Shivelys.....but they couldn't just say the Hams or the Shems. I also felt like Chapter 11 put me back in junior high math with a nightmare story problem. I was waiting for the vere that said, "How many years in all?"
The tower got me to thinking about monuments that we still build in our lives....though not evil in themselves, we use them to give us identity and to take God's place in our lives.
See you tomorrow as we head to Job!

  1. Genesis 8:21 clearly answers the "are we good or bad?" debate.

  2. I thought that I was doomed to fail when I didn't read day 2, but I am caught up and back on track now. I do have a prayer request. Recently I have been struggling with several things in my life. I have been having a lot of doubts about my faith. I need God to reveal himself to me and remind me of all the things He has done in my life. Prayer has been hard for me as well, so I thought if I could have others join me it would be helpful. Thank You! Oh and I know a couple of you were reading my blog. I recently made it private, but would love to have you still read it. Just e-mail me (meyer611@gmail.com) and I will add you to the "approved" list.

  4. In Genesis 11:6, when God sees the people building the tower he makes a comment that if the people, who are speaking one language are able to do this, then basically, nothing they put their minds to will be impossible for them.

Just imagine if we could apply that today to the church. The people were building out of sin but if our purpose is for sharing Jesus with the world and all the churches were able to speak the same "language" of love, service, obedience, etc. Then would anything be impossible for the church?? Just a thought...

(Lindsay, hopefully you know that I am praying for you too)
