It is hard to think of some people as "enemies in your minds and alienated from God." They can be people who are kind and giving and 'good' people by the world's standards. But if they are not in Christ, they are enemies of God. "When you were DEAD in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you ALIVE with Christ." "Set your minds on THINGS ABOVE, not on EARTHLY THINGS." "You have taken off your OLD self and put on the NEW self." Paul really uses a lot of contrasting in this letter I notice.
