I think everyone reads the part about being yolked with non-believers as referring to marriage. I think it does, but I also think it applies to other relationships as well. Not that we shouldn't associate with non-believers, but when it comes to big commitments...marriage, business, close friendships, we should seriously look at their heart.
Does this verse strike anyone else? "Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. They urgently pleaded with us for the PRIVILEGE of sharing in this service to the saints." People who had the least, gave the most. AND they considered it a privilege. That is incredible and maybe even more counter-culture today than it was then.
