These chapters today are filled with so much hope and must have been such good news at the time they were first heard. And in the same way, they are such a comfort to hear today. No matter what kind of evil exists in our personal lives or in the world as a whole, we have such awesome hope with a God who is there, even when we withdraw.
After reading chapter 53, I have trouble seeing how Jews thought that the Messiah was going to be nothing but a powerful king, coming to save them....
