Day 196: 2 Chronicles 28, 2 Kings 16-17

So we had Jotham who was a good king......then Ahaz hits.  My notes point out that we are appalled at him sacrificing his children to gods.  However even today the practice hasn't' abated.  The sacrifice of children to the harsh gods of convenience, economy and whim continues in sterile medical facilities in numbers that would astound the wicked Ahaz.  If we are to allow our children to come to Christ, we must first allow them to come into the world!

In 2 Kings they didn't go worship in their high places, but replaced the Lord's alter with another one to worship their gods.  God must be so much more angry when we distort Christian worship than when people do something else all together.  It has always really bugged me when groups use the Bible AND something else as the basis for their church.  (the Mormon's for example).

the same thing is happening in 17:27-29.  They are just adding God to their list of gods.  "The worshipped God to appease Him rather than to please him."  Good observation.
