The plumb line in chapter 7 reminds me that there are absolutes and there are black and white to situations. God is clear, and any deviation is sin. Pure and simple.
What do you think about the concept of the Lord sending a famine from God's word (chapter 8)?
Another reminder from God of his covenant with Israel in 9:8 Yet I will not totally destroy the house of Jacob."
At the beginning of Amos, he seemed like all doom and gloom to me, but he definitely ends on a positive note! Praise God!!
Just a quick thought...the passage says there will be a time when the people will no longer be hungry and thirty for food and water but for God and His word because He is going to be silent. God stopped speaking between the OT and NT and the people were left to themselves. We now have the entire Bible and God is not silent any more (just like that song, "He is not Silent, we are not listening") and yet we don't hunger for the Word or for God like we should. Why not?
