Day 194: 2 Chronicles 27, Isaiah 9-12

So Jotham was still regarded as good, even though his people were doing bad things.  I guess the take-away is that ultimately we are responsible for our own obedience, and in the end that is how we will be judged...just like Jotham.

As I read Isaiah, I try to think of those who were hearing it at the time.  I think that those who were seeking after God must have been filled with such hope!  Here were all these people around them, snubbing their noses at God and doing nothing but evil.  But Isaiah brings such great promises of hope to them!  On the other hand, those not seeking God probably didn't hear anything or just laughed at it.

  1. In Isaiah 10 the thing that stood out to me was where God is challenging the people and asking if the ax or saw is more important than the one using the tool. This reminded me that I need to be that tool of God, not trying to do my own thing, but let Him freely use me in whatever situation, because I am useless if I am not being used by Him. Just like an ax or saw can't do anything on its own and is useless without someone putting them to work.
