Day 264: Zechariah 1-7

"Return to me," declares the Lord Almighty, "and I will return to you." As it always is with God, we need to make the first step.

I love the symbolism in chapter 3. Satan standing beside Joshua the priest and he is clothed in dirty garments while Satan is pointing out his sins. But because Joshua is repentant and turning to God, God forgives his sins and gives him rich new beautiful garments! LOVE IT!

Towards the end of chapter 6, it talks about the Branch (messiah) who will come and that he will be a priest-king. This was a foreign concept to them because they had always had a king to rule their nation's political life and a priest to rule its religious life.

"When I called, they did not listen; so when they called I would not listen." How can people expect God to just come running to meet their dire needs when He has been calling them all along and they don't listen?
