Day 243: Ezekiel 16-17

The allegory in chapter 16 reminds me of a book I read years ago by Kay Arthur called Israel, My Beloved.  She took the whole story of God and Israel and personified it into a love tory between 2 people.

I think stories like this really bring home to me how hurtful sin and idolatry are to God.  We tend to think that God is so powerful that any little thing I do can't really possibly hurt God or make him jealous.  But reading stories like this remind me of how in love God is with me and what He did to make me His.  How could sin NOT be a big deal!?!?!

I had to read the footnotes for the eagle story to get who it was talking about.
