"Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths." I think that is what we re doing by reading through the Bible this year.
In Psalm 29 it talks about how mighty God's voice is. If it is powerful enough to break trees which are 30 feet in circumference, why can't I hear it sometimes? I'm guessing that is my closed ears, rather than Him not speaking.
Psalm 39 is a good one today for my Birthday! It's always a day when you ponder life somewhat and think about how much has past and how much MIGHT still lie ahead. Help me to not be like verse 6: "Man is a mere phantom as he goes to and fro; He bustles about, but only in vain; he heaps up wealth, not knowing who will get it."
(25:8-9) When I read verse 8, it makes me think about those people who don't know Christ and acknowledge God in their lives. This verse tells me that He is still active in their lives as well as ours as we are all sinners. But I like verse 9, where we have to be teachable and humble to receive His instruction, God can speak, but it is up to us to listen and then be obediant.
ReplyDeleteI am reading the NASB through this study becuase I have always studied the NIV and I wanted to read fresh and see a different translation with may be some new information. Well I have noticed in these psalms that it continually uses the word "lovingkindness" for God and it has struck me what a description that is for God! These are two separate words to me, but are combined in this translation (which is supposedly the most accurate english translation) to try and capture the foundation of God through loving, but then His actions and character of kindness. I am so thankful that this is at the core of who God is and as I read it over and over again in the psalms I still can't understand the depths of what it truly means.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BETH!!
