"They exchanged their Glory for an image of a bull, which eats grass." (106:20) That sounds so absurd and ridiculous and backwards, but so are the things that we put before God.
The recurring verse in 107 is "Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men." Why do I so often forget to be thankful? I often think how self-focused my teen-age kids are. They live with a sense of entitlement. All the things they receive and "own" are just expected and a normal part of their world. I would like to think that I am not that way, but I am. Sure, I have my moments of thankfulness....seeing that there is nothing I have, be it things, or relationships, or opportunities or whatever that didn't come from God. But most times, I just take it all for granted. Thanksgiving Day is only 1/365th of what it should be!
