Day 55: Numbers 3-4

Once again, WOW. That is a lot of people for this important task. 8580 men between 30 and 50 to serve and carry the Tent of Meeting! I guess this stuff was big and heavy and cumbersome. You could probably only carry it for a while before you had to hand stuff off and take a break.

  1. I thought it was interesting how these men were not all just told take care of the temple, they were each given their own assignment. It seems like these twenty guys were told to care for and transport this pole, these 50 guys took care of this curtain, etc. They had an area outside the temple that they slept and guarded. Each one had their specific assignment in the temple so there was some accountability and hopefully pride because this was what you were assigned to care for and you didn't want anything to happen to it. No passing the buck or sitting around watching everyone else do the work allowed here.

  2. Well these chapters answered my previous question.

I noticed that there was a lot of organization for this many people. I wonder how Moses communicated with everybody. That would be a lot of walking and hard to find people. Cell phones would have helped, but they didn't have them!
