I hate frogs. When we lived in Florida, there were lots of critters of all kinds, but frogs had to have been near the top of my list of things that scared me! One time we had a frog "plague". They were everywhere. There were smushed ones on the driveway and road everywhere. I would go to open the front door and they were hiding behind a wreath and would jump in my direction. They would get in the house and I would be screaming at them and chasing them with a broom. Okay, sorry....this story just brought back bad memories. LOL.
Pharaoh has his moments when he says "enough, you can go" but then it is right back to the hard heart. It doesn't seem too different (kind of) from us and the way we say, "Okay, I am going to change", but then we don't. God tries different ways to get our attention.....more and more creative each time.
Interesting that the magicians can do staffs to snakes, water to blood, and frogs....but gnats are beyond their scope.
My studay Bible noted how the frogs, the cattle, even the flies, had religious significance in the idol worship of the Egyptians. Then to see these things they worshipped or were symbolic of their false religions used against them and bring destruction to the land is another aspect of how God tried to reveal Himself as the one true God to them.
