As Chapter 9 talks about all the people responsible for the preparations for worship, this is a good note:
- In our busy world, it is easy to rush into our one-hour-a-week worship services without preparing ourselves for worship beforehand. We reflect and worry about the week's problems; we pray about whatever comes into our minds, and we do not meditate on the words we are singing. But God wants our worship to be conducted "in a fitting and orderly way" (1 Corinthians 14:40). Just as we prepare to meet a business associate or invited guests, we should carefully prepare to meet our King in worship.
As I continue to read all these names, it makes me start thinking about how thousands of years later, these people are listed in the Bible maybe for the only time in this section but they were important enough at the time to be mentioned. A thousand years from now, will I have made enough of a difference for Christ that my name would be listed somewhere, even if people don't know why or what I did, it wouldn't matter, but what is my legacy that I am leaving? Am I doing all I can and making a difference that will last for generations....I have to say no, but I am really being challenged by this right now.
ReplyDeleteSecondly I notice that the men of the tribe of Benjamin and some of the men in another tribe are called "men of valor," what a title, along with David's mighty men. We need more men who want to live up to these titles today. Ladies, pray for the men in your lives.
