In these Psalms David is crying out to be rescued from evil words just as often as being rescued from violence. Sometimes I think we just get numb to verbal assaults. Not necessarily directed at me, but just the way people talk about each other and in general these days. There is so much negativity and slandering going on (and I'm sure I do my share at times, too!).
I also notice that David definitely knows that justice is ultimately up to God. However, he definitely likes to give suggestions as to how evil people should be punished. :-)
