Day 300: Luke 14-15

When Jesus teaches about seeking honor in chapter 14, there are 21 good lessons. (1) Service is more important than status, and (2) God opens his kingdom to everyone. Still good lessons for us.

Concerning counting the cost before becoming a disciple of Jesus....I'm not sure I, or anyone I know, truly knew what signing on for Jesus entailed. Maybe some people who are very knowledgeable or people who know they will suffer for their faith have a clue of what the cost is, but I think in general it is a process of learning after you turn your life over.

I love the "lost" parables in Luke 15. Here is a good note: In the first 2 stories, the seeker actively looked for the coin and the sheep, which could not return by themselves. In the 3rd story, the father watched and waited. He was dealing with a human being with a will of his own. Like the father in this story, God waits patiently for us to come to our senses.
