Day 277: Matthew 3; Mark 1; Luke 3

From notes: Why did John attract so many people? He was the first true prophet in 400 years! He had strong words for his audience - they too were sinners and needed to repent. The people were expecting a prophet like Elijah and John seemed to be the one.

The book of Mark just jumps right into things, doesn't it? By the end of chapter 1, already so much has happened! I love the stories of one healing after another. I think we tend to become desensitized to this stuff that we have heard so many times. But it is amazing!

A note...Matthew's genealogy goes back to Abraham and shows that Jesus was related to all Jews. Luke's genealogy goes back to Adam, showing that Jesus is related to all humans. This is consistent with Luke's picture of Jesus as the Savior of the whole world.
