I like 5:29. God desires that our hearts would be inclined to fear him. He doesn't want us to follow him because we intellectually know we should or even because he commands it. But he wants us to want to.
Good reminders in Chapter 6 about not forgetting about God when life is good. This must grieve God so much. He blesses us with things and circumstances, and rather than loving him more and having a humble, grateful heart, we fall in love with the stuff and the circumstances.
In chapter 7 when Moses talks about why God chose Israel, it hit me that there was no real specific reason. That is important to realize because that is why he picks us. It is not because of anything we have done or because of a people group we are part of. It is total grace. Sweet.

I also liked in chapter 6, "The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." He then goes on to command that these words be in our heart, that we teach them, that we talk about them, that we walk by them, lie down with them, rise with them, and that they should be written all over our lives. It is such a great reminder that our lives should be transformed by God. He should be flowing out of everything we do and everything that we are. Unfortunately, some people tend to turn God on and off when it is convinent for them. This is not so, it needs to be in our hearts!
