In 3:26 I wondered if God still thinks that same thought we continue to ask for something He is not willing to give us: "That is enough. Do not speak to me anymore about this matter."
I notice that right after the Israelites defeat an army greater than themselves, Moses teaches them again the importance of following the law and not adding or subtracting from it. I'm sure there was huge temptation after winning these totally lopsided battles to become arrogant and even self righteous. There are constant reminders to look back at what God has done, not what they have done. Good reminder for me too!

There are some awesome gems hidden in these verses and I had a lot of random thoughts while reading.
ReplyDelete~"Until the Lord gives rest." I am so thankful for those times in my life of "rest." They usually come after a storm and help me get my footing and focus again.
~God can be jealous. He wants all of us and to be first in our lives, our passion.
~Teach those things that we have learned to the children and grandchildren. Because those before us obeyed this command, we have the Bible and a relationship with God. Thanks to Erica, Pastor Drew, and ALL the volunteers who ensure the kids continue to hear this message.
~Don't worship the creation, worship the Creator!
~"When you search for God with all your heart, you will find Him." What a beautiful reminder.
~Chapter 4:29-31, what a wonderful promise for the Israelites and spoke to my heart so much. God is a compassionate God in the midst of it all and we are privileged to receive that compassion through Jesus.

Cool! Yeah, I really liked a lot of things in these chapters as well. The footnotes really helped me understand a jealous God a lot better. Jealousy can be such a weak and negative thing in our culture. But how awesome that I have a God who loves me so much that he gets jealous when my devotion is to anything other than Him!
ReplyDeleteGood thoughts! To add one..."The Lord God Himself fights for you".
